Troubleshooting

Exported Walkthrough Shows Blank/White Screen

This is usually caused by a JavaScript error in the exported HTML. Try:

1.Re-export from the latest version of Walkthrough Studio
2.Open the exported file in Chrome and check the console (Cmd+Option+J / Ctrl+Shift+J) for errors
3.If you see errors, contact support — the issue may be related to specific hotspot configurations

Tooltips Overflow the Device Frame

If a tooltip extends past the edge of the walkthrough container:

1.Move the hotspot closer to the center of the screen
2.Use shorter tooltip text
3.Use the custom tooltip position feature (drag the tooltip in the editor to position it manually)

Screenshots Not Loading

If screenshots appear blank in the editor:

1.Try refreshing the page (the signed URLs may have expired)
2.Check your internet connection
3.If the issue persists, the screenshots may need to be re-uploaded

Auto-Save Conflicts

If you see unexpected changes or data loss:

1.Avoid opening the same project in multiple browser tabs simultaneously
2.Wait for the "Saved" indicator before closing the browser
3.The auto-save triggers 3 seconds after your last change

Rise Integration Issues

Walkthrough doesn't display in Rise

  • Make sure you're pasting the HTML into a Code block, not a regular text block
  • Use Add code (not "Upload project") for paste-based insertion

Completion not triggering in Rise

  • Enable Set completion requirements in the Rise code block settings
  • Add a Continue block below the code block
  • The walkthrough fires a completion signal when the learner reaches the last screen or an end screen

Walkthrough appears too small/large in Rise

  • The walkthrough container is set to max-width 400px by default
  • Rise code blocks adapt to the lesson width — the walkthrough will center within the available space
